Microneedling Derma Roller - Needle Size Clarification & Steps on How to Use
Needle sizes & their uses
0.2mm - Best Suited for sensitive skin or first time use
The 0.2mm is the smallest needle size available and is most definitely the perfect selection of needle size for a newbie or a person who posses sensitive skin.
We would always recommend you start off on the 0.2mm until you gain practice and experience with the microneedling process. It gently eases your skin into familiarising itself with the minor and purposeful 'damage/injury' the micro needles cause in order to stimulate your skins natural healing process. This will ensure the skin remains firm, smooth and rejuvenated.
0.25mm - Aids with effective serum absorptionThe 0.25mm would be an appropriate step up from 02mm as it is a slightly more advanced microneedling practice.
Its perfect for improving serum penetration, diminishing the appearance of scars, gradual skin resurfacing & rejuvenation and encouragement of new cell stimulation.
0.3mm - Increased production of collagen and elastin
The 0.3mm is the perfect choice of needle size before you step it up a notch to the 0.5mm+ where you will be penetrating the epidermis & varying depths of the dermis.
0.3mm is your perfect partner to not only enhance your beauty product absorption but also slowly encourage the natural collagen and elastin production. It works as a preventative by stopping any future skin blemishes and lightening hyperpigmentation whilst also penetrating that little deeper to heighten the skins natural healing process and subsequently boost your collagen and elastin performance.
How to Use
1. Ensure your derma roller is cleaned and disinfected before use.
2. Thoroughly cleanse your face with the use of a gentle PH balanced cleanser.
3. Apply your desired serum; we would suggest niacinamide and hyaluronic acid-based products
4. Visually split your face into 4 sections (top left section of forehead, top right section of forehead, left side of face such as chin and cheek (avoiding eye areas), right side of face such as chin and cheek (avoiding eye areas) ). Gently roll vertically, diagonally, and horizontally 2-3 times in the 4 areas of your face.
5. Get a cotton pad/tissue or use luke warm water and gently run across all areas of the face to ensure any dirt/makeup/grime that may be extracted from the pores, is removed.
6. Apply a layer of gentle moisturiser/serum to complete the process. Avoid the use of any products containing harsh chemicals, retinoids, vitamin C, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs).
